Coaching and Leadership

What Coaching Can Do For You

When you join forces with a coach, you accelerate your capacity to create actionable change. As an International Coaching Federation (ICF) member coach, I invite you to explore leadership coaching as a creative and challenging process to maximize the work and life you want.

The goal of this page is to give you an overview of coaching, leadership, and how I approach my work.

What is coaching?

The International Coaching Federation defines coaching as “partnering with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximize their personal and professional potential.” Coaching is an ongoing relationship where results are a matter of your intentions, choices and actions, combined with my application of the coaching process.

I hold my clients to be creative, resourceful, and whole. Standing on this foundation, my responsibility is to:

Encourage self discovery ~ Elicit self-generated solutions and strategies ~ Hold you responsible and accountable

Coaching is one of the best processes for navigating complexity, volatility, ambiguity and uncertainty.

What is leadership?

Leadership is a very personal decision. Leadership is not one thing, but rather a concert of competencies at play.

It might mean the ability to motivate and influence others, to galvanize followers toward a common vision, to act courageously, or many other definitions. I offer a perspective that leadership is always tied to action and embodies three core competencies:

Self awareness ~ Awareness of Others ~ Understanding of relationships

Leadership coaching is a process to develop competencies that can empower us in times of change.

How leadership coaching works

We are free to explore, try new things, and have fun! By embodying this attitude, we open up what’s possible.

Learning often happens when we go outside our comfort zone. When we embrace challenge, much learning can unfold.

Innovation is a natural extension of learning and playing. We try it out, fly, fall, make adjustments, and do it again. And again. Oh… and again.
